Missing Twitter
I kinda miss Twitter. Well, the parts that made it good.
I’ve recently made a conscious choice not to visit that hellhole anymore after moving to Bluesky, and for the most part I know that that was a good decision considering I don’t see antagonistic right-wing mouth-breathers in the replies on my feed anymore.
But then yesterday a friend suddenly asked if I was on the Ticketmaster queue for Gracie’s show here next year, and I’m like wait what?! I didn’t even know she announced new dates!!
Apparently she did, a few days ago, and the presale announcement followed shortly afterwards, and I completely missed both. My friend wasn’t able to get tickets anyway but I’m still miffed this news flew under my radar.
Then in the evening, while waiting to watch Drag Race, I was scrolling through Tiktok mindlessly and found out that The Game Awards was on—for the past hour, in fact. I religiously watch this show every year, even setting calendar reminders for the date, but this year I was completely unaware it was even scheduled this week 1.
The quality of posts on Bluesky right now is top-notch, no qualms about it, but what made Twitter really good as a platform is how awesome it is as an up-to-date, real-time news source, and our new darling platform isn’t quite there yet I fear.
But it better get there fast ‘cause I’m missing out on a lot of pop culture tea and gossip 😩 And drag queens. We definitely need more drag queens on there. I guess this is the price we pay for peace of mind and mental stability these days.
although this one’s partly on me, considering The Game Awards almost always airs on the first few weeks of December. I should’ve known that, but it would’ve been nice to get reminded.↩
